In Bond case of Gran Reserva 904, La Rioja Alta 2010. Price shown is per case and excludes UK Duty and VAT*
Founded by five Riojan and Basque families who shared a passion for wine, the wines of La Rioja Alta are known for producing some of the greatest wine in the region. With a history dating back to 1890, La Rioja Alta merged with Ardanza in 1904. The commemorative wines for both years (890 & 904) have developed a huge loyal following and demand now far outstrips supply for each release. No vintage produced in the last 20 years has received Wine Advocate scores of lower than 95 Points – consistent quality at remarkably welcome prices has led to a huge following for these wonderful wines.
Composed of 90% Tempranillo from 60+ year old vines in Brinas, Labastia and Villalbe and 10% Graciano from Montecillo, the wine then sees four years in American oak barrels made by their in-house coopers. Over four years of bottle ageing is given prior to release.
*Offered for sale in bond. Price shown is per case (6x75cl bottles) and excludes UK Duty and VAT which will be charged at the prevailing rate. Onward delivery from bond charges are not included. No further discounts of any kind apply, Reward Card points not applicable.
A step up on the memorable 2009, this shows just how special the 2010 vintage was. Marrying fruit from Briñas, Villalba and Rodezno, it's a perfectly judged marriage of Tempranillo with 10% Graciano. Savoury wild herb notes segue into a palate that's focused, balanced and graceful with the concentration and backbone to age. 2019-35- 97 pts Tim Atkin MW
