In Bond case of Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia 2016.
Le Serre Nuove is a true ‘second vin’ sourced from the estate’s younger vineyards and made with the same passion as Ornellaia. The wines were blend after spending 12 months in oak barrel and were aged for another 3 months after that. A generous and deep Super Tuscan with an engaging and vibrant personality.
“Le Serre Nuove dell’ Ornellaia 2016 benefits again from an exceptional vintage that highlights all the features of Bolgheri’s exceptional climate. Dark in colour, the wine shows a charming nose of perfectly ripe red fruit and spices. The palate is rich and well-rounded with beautiful velvety-textured tannins that coat the palate. A wine that combines immediate pleasure and great ageing capacity.” Axel Heinz, Ornellaia Winemaker.
“This is a fantastic interpretation from Bolgheri. The 2016 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is made with fruit from the same vineyard plots that go into the Bolgheri Superiore, only this is a second selection if you will. Generally speaking, fruit from the younger vines goes here. This wine gives us a very pretty glimpse of what we can expect of the high-end releases from this classic vintage. The fruit is rock solid, delineated, tonic and firm. The pleasure factor awarded here is very high thanks to the wine’s inner softness, silky tannins and soothing extract. The bouquet is seamless and pristine. 94 points.” Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate.
