  • About the producer

About the producer: Château Cos d’Estournel

Château Cos d’Estournel is the star of St Estephe, alongside Château Montrose, and competes with the quality of some 1st growth. Founded in the 19th century by Louis Gaspard d’Estournel who, rather than depending on Bordeaux’s traditional network of negociants, decided to dispatch his wines personally, signing each bottle. Today Michel Reybier owns the estate and has invested in analyses to understand the needs of the vineyard, as well as in innovative techniques with isothermal vats shaped like truncated cones to allow homogeneous extraction during fermentation. A higher percentage of Merlot than the rest of the Haut-Medoc is used in the blend to produce fleshy and richly textured wines. View our selection.

    Vineyard & Winemaking

The 91 hectares of vines are planted with two third of Cabernet Sauvignon, but also Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with an average of 45 years old vines. Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are also part of the vineyard for the production of white wines. The wines are aged for 18 months in 80% new oak.

    Wines Produced

Cos d’Estournel (grand vin), Les Pagodes de Cos (second vin), Goulée by Cos d’Estournel and Cos d Estournel Blanc (white).
