About the producer: Domaine Michelot
Domaine Michelot is one of the rare finest estate in Burgundy to produce both quality and quantity. The domaine achieved widespread recognition in the 60s under the direction of the charismatic Bernard Michelot and his spirit and tradition flourishes and grows in the hands of the current generation. Bernard Michelot’s son-in-law, Jean-Francois Mestre has been in charge since 1993 of both vines and winemaking and has done a terrific job. He has worked wonders in the vineyards, believing that good wine can come only from perfect fruit and he is meticulous in the cellar too. Today, Jean Francois’s son Nicolas increasingly drives the winemaking with a focus on crystalline purity of fruit and expression of terroir. Their wines are simply delicious and display the finest characteristics of Meursault. View our selection.
Vineyard & Winemaking
The domaine boasts a total of 19 hectares of vines which include a number of prestigious 1er cru wines and, the most natural methods to optimise the quality of the grapes are applied. The wines are matured in oak barrel for 10 to 12 months, using 15% of new oak for the whites and 20% for the reds.
They mainly produce under the Meursault appellation with one AOC village, six different ‘climats’ (vineyard) and four 1er Cru including Charmes, Genevrieres, Poruzot and Perrieres. They also produce some Bourgogne (White and Red), Santenay (White and Red) and Puligny Montrachet.
