The Domaine d’ Elise is a pocket sized estate of 13 ha which lies at Milly on the slopes above the Premier Cru vineyards of Cote de Lechet. Wines from Frederic Prain have a distinguishing characteristic as he harvests his grapes later than usual in order to get very ripe fruits. His Petit Chablis also spends seven months maturing on its lees for added complexity.
The tangy, fresh citrus notes are beautifully supported by layers of warm rich fruit. Lighter style than its broader richer sibling Chablis.
French still white wine from Chablis in Burgundy (Bourgogne) France, made with Chardonnay.
Established in 1970 Domaine d’Elise is comparatively young compared to many Burgundian estates. Bought by Frederic Prain in 1982 when he decided to swap civil engineering for winemaking – though he did keep his magnificent sports car collection. With just 13ha this is a pocket sized Domaine which lies at Milly on the slopes above the Premier Cru vineyards of Cote de Lechet. The single parcel of land is split equally between Petit Chablis and Chablis but both parts share much the same terroir. A distinguishing characteristic of all Prains wines is very ripe rich fruit and roundness, due to the grapes being harvested later than usual. Oak does not play a role in any of the wines. The Petit Chablis spends 7 months maturing on its lees for added complexity. View our selection.
