Product description
Miguel Merino created his own winery in a restored farmhouse where he built a small vinification plant and barrel-ageing cellar. He started to buy grapes grown on small plots near Briones to produce well-made, modern wines and now owns and runs one of the smallest, youngest and most prestigious wineries in Spain. La Loma is a small vineyard of 1,5 hectares that was planted 70 years ago on poor soils, making the roots go very deep in order to produce fresh, subtle and elegant wines.
Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. Deep and elegant with complex aromas of black fruits, spices and coffee notes. Good acidity, smooth tannins and a really long finish.

Wow! How good is this! La Loma is a 1.4-hectare parcel of co-planted Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha in Briones on red clay and limestone soils. It's always been a special vineyard, but Miguel Merino Junior has taken the resulting wine to new heights. Subtle and refined, with barely noticeable 50% new wood, svelte tannins, red berry and blackberry fruit and a ferrous undertone. 2024-35
