Product description
Sassicaia, meaning “place of many stones”, was the first wine produced in Tuscany with Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1968 the first bottle produced was commercially released as an IGT and became known as ‘Super Tuscan’. Due to the quality of the wines produced in the region, the Bolgheri DOC was finally approved 26 years later.
Made with 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, it spends 24 months in French oak barrels. Classy, well balanced and long-lasting.
Love the aromas to this young red with blackcurrants, sage, cinnamon and five-spice character. Changes all the time. Full-bodied, dense and powerful with a ripe and rich tannin backbone that gives form and beauty to the ripe and beautiful fruit. Tight and very long. Approachable now but will reward more in five to six years. A classic Sassicaia.
