Owned by Owen and Cassandra Inglis since 2004, Sidewood is already starting to get noticed. Highly respected critic James Halliday gave them a five-star rating in both the 2016 and 2018 editions of Wine Companion. Made by award winning winemakers whose CVs include top wineries such as Penfolds and Shaw & Smith, their wines are absolutely stunning. Only the best grapes are selected from the Sidewood estate to make the Mappinga Art Series. The winemaking philosophy is simple – to create stylish, elegant, high quality wine.
Hints of pear, ripe peach and honeydew melon on the nosé . Following through onto the palate the flavours are enhanced with subtle hints of honey and nutmeg from the influence of 8 months maturation in French Oak barrels.
A fresh, refined and quietly intense bouquet that is restrained but complex. It doesn’t rely on oak or artifact but has plenty of detail. Subtle depths to the palate, with lemon and other citrus nuances leading. A fine wine and outstanding value. drinking window 2018 -2028- 95 pts Huon Hooke, Decanter Magazine
