Dense and ripe black-cherry fruits with chocolate and fig aromas. Full-bodied and well balanced fortified sweet red wine with good tannins and a powerful finish.
Christopher Smith, Lord Mayor of London, founded the company in 1784 before being joined by the Woodhouse brothers. Smith Woodhouse now belong to the Symington family. Located in the Upper Douro traditional method are used and grapes are still crushed by foot in stone lagares. Their Vintage Ports are well renowned and tend to be drier than most.
