The Lloyd family fell in love with this site located in Central Otago and decided to plant vineyards on it. They named the estate Te Kano, meaning seed in Maori. They produce a small selection from vineyards and barrels, which are often produced in extremely limited quantities.
This Bannockburn Pinot Noir is a blend of the very best parcels from their best vineyards, Jerome and Eliza. A concentrated Pinot Noir with complex aromas of orange peel, fresh red cherry, spice and ripe berry fruits follow and hints of vanilla. Medium-bodied on the palate with savoury flavours of forest floor and mushroom and soft tannins.
The lifted and and layered 2019 Pinot Noir Bannockburn features high notes of florals and woody herbs meeting black cherry fruit and bass tones of baking spices and oak-derived cedar. It’s a full-bodied, rich expression that goes as deep as a lake with the most supple of mouthcoating tannins. It will seduce you with its ease and self-assurance as it glides across your palate. Don't serve this on a date, as it'll be the wine your companion falls in love with. Drinking well already. Drinking 2022-2030.- 93 pts Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous
