Martine and Christian Vache established Domaine de la Monardiere in 1987, just before Vacqueyras received AOC status in 1990, joining her neighbours Gigondas and Châteauneuf du Pape. Their very old vines are carefully maintained, and their approach is based on natural cultivation, with as little intervention as possible. Grenache and Syrah from 60 year old vines, fermented in concrete vats and aged in old oak casks. Bottled without fining or filtration.

French still red wine from South Rhone Valley France, made with Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah.
Domaine de la Monardière is a family business located in the wine village of Vacqueyras, next to Gigondas and Châteauneuf du Pape. Martine and Christian Vache took over the estate in 1987 and began restructuring the vineyards and building the cellar. Their ambition is to produce wines of unique authenticity, expressive and full-bodied that are representative of their terroir and of the vintage. View our selection.
Half of the 50 acres of vine are planted with Grenache over 40 years old, but also Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Grenache Blanc, Roussane and Viognier. Their very old vines are carefully maintained, and their approach is based on natural cultivation, with as little man-made intervention as possible.
Using indigenous yeasts for the fermentation their wines are aged for 6 to 24 months in tanks or oak barrels. Red wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
They produce 3 red wines; ‘Les Calades’, ‘Les Deux Monardières’ and a cuvée ‘Vieilles Vignes’; one rosé and a white called ‘Galéjades’.
