Product description
Established in the late 19th century, this family-owned Bodega in Villabuena village sources fruit from its own vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. Founded by Francisco Javier Solano y Eulate, the estate adopted Bordeaux-inspired ageing techniques. Today, under Juan Pablo De Simón and Milans del Bosch, great-grandsons of Francisco, the Bodega blends tradition with modern winemaking methods.
Awards
Finca Monteviejo is a superb clay and sand-based vineyard that has been in the de Simón family since the late 1940s and is planted with 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano. Aged in new French oak, it's their most international style wine, with scented wood, youthful, aromatic bramble and blackberry fruit and the freshness of the Atlantic-influenced 2016 vintage. 2022-30
