    Product description

    This long established family Bodega lies in the best part of Rioja, on the limestone ridges of the Alavesa region. They only use fruit from their own vineyards and have rigorous standards in the cellars in order to create wines with elegance and pungency combined with the soft spicy allure that only well made Tempranillo can offer. Valserrano is gaining a reputation amongst Rioja’s best, receiving high score from renowned wine critics.

    Very deep flavours of blackcurrant, cherry, cedar, sandalwood and toasted oak with a long enticing finish and silky tannins.

    Jaime de Simón deliberately picks out the wines with the most structure and acidity for his Gran Reserva blend to ensure that it has a long life. Tempranillo and 10% Graciano make up the blend here and are just starting to evolve into something with subtle forest floor and balsamic notes. Still young, this will reward cellaring.

    About the producer: Valserrano – Bodegas de la Marquesa

    Valserrano is a long established family Bodega that lies in the best part of the region, on the limestone ridges of the Alavesa area in the Rioja Alta near Haro. It is based on the same principal as a good French Château which is to use fruit only from their own vineyards, set rigorous standards in the cellars and, following fermentation in stainless steel, they age the wine in oak part of which is renewed each year. The wines have elegance and pungency combined with the soft spicy allure that only well made Tempranillo can offer. They are very good indeed and have received really high score from renowned wine critics. View our selection.

    Vineyard & Winemaking

    Valserrano estate lies on 65 hectares of vineyards that belong to the family. The domaine is planted with 80% of Tempranillo, the basis of any good Rioja wine and Mazuelo, Garnacha, Graciano and Viura.
    The family recently planted a vineyard with Maturana red and another with Chardonnay to see how these minority varieties perform in the Rioja Alavesa. Once fermented, their wine mature in underground natural cellars over 200 years old.

    Valserrano’s Cuvées

    All their cuvées have received great revue and usually receive over 90 points from world renown wine critics including Stephen Tanzer and Robert Parker. All their cuvée are under the Rioja DO and includes 2 whites; Rioja Blanco and Gran Reserva, and 6 reds; Rioja Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva, Graciano, Finca Monteviejo and Nico.

    When placing your order you can request for wines to be signed for when delivered or left in a safe place if a specific instruction is given. Please note that we cannot accept responsibility for any subsequent loss or damage which occurs once the consignment has been left.

    Returns

    Sale or return is available. All goods returned must be in a reasonable condition and only unopened cases will be accepted. A minimum collection charge of £7.95 will be applied to all sale or return orders.

    Any damaged bottles must be reported within 48 hours of delivery. A full refund will be given on receipt of the damaged bottles.

    Orders may be cancelled up to seven working days from receipt of delivery provided that all wines are unopened and in their original condition.

    To cancel an order customers should contact the Customer Service team on 020 8858 6011, fax details on 020 7716 3366, or email [email protected] It is your responsibility to keep the wines safe and in their original condition until collection is made.

    In the event of customer cancellation full refunds will only be given if we are notified at least 7 days before the date of the event. Refunds will only be given after this time if we are able to re-sell your tickets.

    In the event that a tasting is cancelled, Davy’s shall offer customers a full refund.
