English couple Daphne and David Briscoe took a first step into winemaking came when they bought a small vineyard in Hertfordshire in 2004 but made an even bigger leap in 2008 when Vierkoppen, a thirty acre estate in Brede River Valley in South Africa, came up for sale. ‘’Not so much a mid-life crisis as a definite career change’’, or so they claim! The wines are rich and opulent and we think that this small ‘garage estate’ has bags of potential.
Elegant, lively and finely balanced, this Sauvignon Blanc is tightly wound around a core of crisp, flinty and mineral notes. Its vibrancy is amplified by nuances of ripe cape gooseberry, touches of capsicum and succulent grapefruit.

Not every English wine grower has vines also in the New World, but Daphne and David Briscoe are nothing if not adventurous.
