The People

Constance and Lawrence Slaughter fell in love with this medieval Château which was a residence of the Avignon popes. Since taking on the estate, they have put a tremendous amount of energy into rebuilding the reputation of this remarkable estate. Putting in place an ambitious sustainability and biodiversity plan which has included the conversion to fully organic viticulture and vineyard regeneration. This combined with a state-of-the-art winery has enabled them to produce exceptional organic wines with minimal intervention.

The Vineyards

The 116-hectare estate includes 25 ha of vines, most of them between 50 and 70 years of age. The terroir is north facing at a relatively high elevation, which provides for cool nights throughout the year, giving the wines great freshness and elegance. It sits on a fabulous mix of quaternary limestone scree, Oligocene limestone, clay quartz and sandy clay soils of the Eocene era.
