This feels like a step up on the already excellent 2015, with rich and concentrated blackberry and strawberry, a hint of meaty savouriness, pepper and wonderful cedar spice. These deep and inviting aromas belie the elegance, fine tannins and beautiful balance on the palate, where ripe blueberry and raspberry give way to a touch of balsamic and clove. A saline note, delicate tannins and fresh acidity carry the complex fruit and spice on a very pleasing finish.
Aromas of ripe dark fruit, walnuts, currant bush and bark. Medium-to full-bodied with creamy tannins and bright acidity. Polished and silky with mellow fruit character and a fresh, floral touch to it. Firm finish with notes of chocolate. Drink or hold.- 93 pts James Suckling
