The Burger and Morkel families released the first Roodekrantz wines in 2015. Committed to preserve ancient Certified Old Vine Heritage Vineyards, they work closely with their growers, encouraging respectful and sustainable vineyard practices. No new oak ensures the quality of the fruit and terroir shine through in every bottle.
Sourced from vines planted in 1954. Matured for 10 months in old French oak barrels. Very perfumed with aromas of wild raspberry and strawberries with hints of rose petal and a touch of sour cherry. Medium-bodied with delicate and ripe tannins on the palate.
From a 1954 Paarl vineyard. The nose shows red and black cherry, a hint of reduction, earth and spice. Good fruit definition to go with fresh acidity and lightly grippy tannins. Round and relatively full in the mouth, this is substantial but not overbearing- 93 pts Christian Eedes, Decanter Magazine
