The Catherine’s Block label is reserved for the very best wines from Mount Brown Vineyards in Waipara. As well as superb fruit, the wine gains creamy lees notes from being barrel fermented, with wild yeasts, adding a smoky depth and complexity to the rich, tropical fruit and gooseberry flavours on the palate. The wine is matured on its lees for 6 months, with no fining before bottling.
Winemaker Frank Manifold is steadily making a name for both himself and for Mount Brown, with the estate Pinot Noir winning a great review in Decanter in 2016. The Catherine’s Block label takes complexity and depth to the next level and is one to watch.
