Product description
En Primeur Château de Fonbel, Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion, will be available for delivery or storage once it lands in the UK, usually two years following the en primeur offer.
One of Bordeaux’s most renowned proprietors, the Vauthier family of 1st Growth Ch. Ausone have owned St. Emilion Château de Fonbel since 1971 and the wine produced here is one of the best values in the region, benefitting hugely from the oversight of one of St. Emilion’s best wine-makers. The 16-hectare Ch. de Fonbel vineyard is located close to those surrounding Ch. Ausone and is planted to 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 3% Carmenere, with vines averaging 25 years of age. This planting represents the largest percentage of Carmenere on the Right Bank – combined with the high percentage of Petit Verdot, the de Fonbel style is beautifully unique and makes for wonderful drinking on release and over the next ten years.
