“A new estate for me, I was blown away by Clos des Nines. Made by Isabelle Mangeart… Count me a fan”
Jeb Dunnuck
Isabelle wasn’t born in the Languedoc region and didn’t come from a wine-growing background. She and her family settled there in the 90’s and Isabelle fell in love with it. She was seduced by its light, its strong identity, its history, its landscapes, its wine culture. She enrolled in a course in Viticulture-Oenology and discovered the profession of winemaker and the magic of winemaking. She learned much of what she knows in the field with experienced winemakers, the whole art of winemaking truly fascinates her.
The adventure of Clos des Nines began in 2002 with the first pruning season, and over the years Isabelle and her husband Christian Marbler have focused on restructuring the estate and implementing environmentally-conscious farming methods. Sustainability is of the utmost importance and all the wines are certified organic. Clos de Nines, meaning “The Vineyard of the Daughters” in the old ‘langue d’Oc’ dialect of the region, was chosen as a tribute to Isabelle’s three daughters.
The estate is surrounded by dry stone walls and dominated by a capitelle typical of the Languedoc landscape. It’s made up of 8 hectares of vines, 2 hectares of olive trees, nestled in the middle of the garrigue on the Collines de la Moure between Montpellier and Sète.
The wines at Clos des Nines are absolutely delicious. Isabelle and her team are dedicated to producing wines that reflect the unique characteristics of their terroir and the rich wine culture of the Languedoc region. With its stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the volcanic silhouette of Mont Saint Clair de Sète, the Domaine Clos des Nines is a must-visit destination for wine lovers looking to experience the best of the Languedoc region.
You will begin the evening with a glass of Obladie Clos des Nines – an elegant, rich and floral white, with a refreshing finish, think white peaches, pear, white fennel, with subtle hints of yellow flowers and brioche – a fantastic start to the evening. We will then taste through her range of fantastic reds, all specially blended unveiling a wide range of aromatics and characteristics that gives each wine their unique personality. Isabelle will walk you through her journey from training and winemaking into making award winning organic wines and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
