Grapes are hand-harvested in small volumes from 30-year-old vines in a 9-hectare vineyard. The grapes undergo a 3-day maceration at 18°C before fermentation with locally selected yeasts for about 7 days at 33°C, with frequent pump-overs. This is followed by a 20-day hot maceration. Then, aged for 6 months in barrels from 2 to 6 years old. Black fruit-forward with hints of spice, featuring blackberry and cherry flavors, balanced by soft tannins and a zesty, peppery finish. Complex and refined.

About the producer: Domaine Etienne Pochon

From the late 16th century, Curson Castle belonged to Diane de Poitiers, the mistress of King Henry II of France. Her daughter Louise de Brézé sold the property to the lord of Chevrières in 1584, with several generations succeeding each other for more than 200 years, until Nicolas Amédée of the Croix Marquis de Chevrières rented the castle to the ancestors of the current Domaine owners, who then bought it a few years later. Etienne Pochon has almost 16 hectares of vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage, 12 of which are dedicated to Syrah, with the remaining four planted with white grapes, Roussane and Marsanne. Etienne vinifies his grapes plot by plot in order to keep the specificity of each terroir. Certified organic since 2014.
