Join us on Friday 22nd March at Bunghole Cellars in Holborn for a fantastic Malbec tasting and informal steak dinner with Héctor Durigutti from Durigutti Family Winemakers.
Héctor and Pablo founded Durigutti Family Winemakers in 2002. It is situated in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, known as the birthplace of Argentinian Malbec. Their winemaking philosophy is to produce wines that reflect the terroir and the identity of each vineyard, using organic, minimal intervention and sustainable practices. Their wines are nothing short of brilliant and receive regular praise (and high scores) from highly regarded critics.
Héctor and Pablo were recently named Winemakers of the Year by Tim Atkin MW in his 2023 Argentina Special Report, and we cannot wait to welcome Héctor to Davy’s.
Argentina’s Durigutti is one of the newest and most exciting additions to the Davy’s portfolio, with a range of stunning wines exclusive to Davy’s. Already favourites with the team, we were pleased (but not surprised!) to see the excellence of Durigutti’s Pie de Monte Finca Las Jarillas recognised at the 2023 Decanter World Wine Awards.
“… something remarkable is coming to light here.”
97 Points, Decanter World Wine Awards
We start the evening with a sparkling aperitif to sharpen the tastebuds before tasting through six Durigutti Malbecs. Amongst them are the outstanding Pie de Monte bottlings, a range of single vineyard wines offering some of the purest expressions of Mendoza Malbec. The judges at Decanter were wowed by Finca Zarlenga, awarding it 93 points, and Finca Las Jarillas, a massive 97-points along with a Best in Show award.
The tasting will be alongside boards of house charcuterie whilst Héctor guides us through the wines, followed by Surrey Hills Sirloin steaks paired with their sensational Gran Reserva Malbec, and the wine that first brought winemakers Héctor and Pablo together, the Familia Malbec blend.
Héctor will talk us through the winery’s history and the different techniques used, including organic and sustainable practices that allow Durigutti to create some of Argentina’s best wines. An informal and fun evening, not to be missed, and a must for any Malbec fan!
