2019 Château du Tertre, 5ème Grand Cru Classé Margaux is now released
Du Tertre is planted to 52 hectares (of which 18 ha are biodynamic) with 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The vines were planted between 1961 and 1965 and average yields are between 35 and 45 hl/ha. The vinification is in tanks: concrete, wood and stainless steel. Ageing is in 100% French oak of which 45% is new.
A beautifully elegant and expressive Margaux that has sappy fruit with clear salinity and minerality on the finish. Pretty serious in its structure but subtly so, it takes its time to unfurl and has an upward lift through the palate. Violet rim to the colour and the austerity speaks to energy that will help power it to long life. 6% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Drinking Window 2027 – 2042. – 92 Points, Jane Anson, Decanter Magazine
