Product description
En Primeur Château Pichon Baron will be available for delivery or storage once it lands in the UK, usually two years following the en primeur offer.
The estate was founded in the late 17th Century and in 1850 the property was divided in two, leading to the creation of Pichon Baron and Pichon Lalande. In 1987 the estate was bought by AXA Millésimes, whose aim is to enable great wines from vineyards with a glorious past to achieve their full potential. The Pichon Baron estate comprises 73 hectares of high quality gravelly soil. Low in nutrients and with little excess water, this unique soil sparingly nourishes the vines, whose average age is 35 years. Pichon Baron’s vineyard is planted as follows: 65% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, and is meticulously divided into separate plots. Each plot receives specific care and attention adapted to its particular profile.
The terroir’s best land – the ‘Butte de Pichon Baron’ – is devoted entirely to the production of the Grand Vin, making up the majority of the blend. It is among the estate’s historic plots; it was already in use in 1694, when the wine was first produced.
En Primeur pricing is per case as specified and excludes UK duty and VAT, which will be charged at the prevailing rate when the wine is released from bond for delivery. Bonded storage is available. Onward delivery or transfer is not included and can be quoted for on request. Free delivery on orders over £100 does not apply to bonded or en primeur wines.
