Product description
En Primeur Château Pontet Canet, 5ème Grand Cru Classé Pauillac, will be available for delivery once landed, usually two years following the vintage.
Château Pontet Canet’s vineyard is ideally positioned right opposite Mouton Rothschild. The quality has varied through time but, since 1994 Alfred Tesseron has been in charge of the Domaine, and Pontet Canet is now one of the new great wines from Bordeaux and has garnered a lot of attention. The wines are fermented with natural yeasts and age on average 12-18 months in oak (40-60% new) before bottling.
Without question, the style at Ch. Pontet Canet is different. Davy’s Fine Wine team found a Pontet Canet with real class; incredible purity and depth to the fruit, superb structure – this truly stands out as one of the wines of the vintage. The pricing (24% down on the 2016, 5% up on 2017) places this release in the market below other top rated vintages for the Chateau; 2009, 2010 and 2016.
65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Our elevage method, 50% in new oak barrels, 35% in dolia (bespoke made with concrete containing some Pontet-Canet terroirs elements) and 15% in once used barrels, respects the nature of the fruit and let the magnificent Pontet-Canet vineyard terroirs express themselves. The soul of Pontet-Canet lies in the quest for balance, for the purest and most faithful incarnation of its terroirs, with no artifice nor make-up. With its precision, hitherto unequalled, our 2019 vintage is another step further in our search for the ideal. – Wine-Maker notes
