    Product description

    Fonseca is a young port house but already has gain the reputation of a Premium Vintage Port producer with their wines ranking amongst the best. They are now a pioneer of organic and sustainable viticulture in the Douro Valley.

    In the early 1950’s, the rising demand for Vintage ports led Fonseca to create a second vintage port under the ‘Guimaraens’ label. Dark purple, almost opaque fortified and sweet red wine with lovely, rich, full blackberry aromas and attractive floral and liquorice scents. This is a big, very rich and well rounded wine bursting with blackberry fruit, medium to full bodied with a smooth, silky finish.

    Located in the Douro Valley the firm was founded  in 1815 by Fonsecas and Monteiros before being led by the Guimaraens family, who established Fonseca reputation as a ‘first growth’ Vintage Port house. Today the Yeatmans and their descendants are in charge. Since 1970 they have invested in the vineyards, taking a leading role in its renovation and have become a pioneer of organic and sustainable viticulture. Fonseca’s three distinctive terroirs, Panascal, Cruzeiro and Santo António, defines the character of their wines. View our selection.

     

    They are mainly famous for their Vintage Port, Guimaraens Vintage, Bin No 27 and their limited release of a Bicentenary Edition Crusted Port to commemorate 200 years of family tradition and achievement.

    Returns

    SALE OR RETURN is available by prior arrangement only and for orders of 96 bottles or more. All returns are at the customer’s expense. Returns must be made within 28 days of original delivery and goods must be in a resalable condition. We reserve the right to only refund up to 25% of the original order. For further details please contact customer services 020 8858 6011.

    CANCELLATIONS can be made within seven working days from receipt of delivery, provided that all wines are unopened and in their original condition. To cancel an order customers should contact the Customer Service team on 020 8858 6011 or email orders@davy.co.uk. It is your responsibility to keep the wines safe and in their original condition until collection is made.

    TASTING CANCELLATIONS – full refunds can only be made where at least 7 days’ notice is given prior to the event date. Refunds will only be given after this time if we are able to re-sell your tickets. In the event that a tasting is cancelled, Davy’s shall offer customers a full refund.
