    Product description

The Voillot family has grown vines for five generations and has a big footprint, south of Beaune, with thirty two parcels in some of the finest vineyards. These sought after and pure expressions of the appellation are now crafted under the careful eye of wine maker and cellar master Etienne Chaix, grandson of Joseph.

Aromas of raspberry, clove and a touch of earthiness. Soft and round on the palate with notes of cherry, raspberry, redcurrant and baking spices. Long finish.

About the producer: Domaine Joseph Voillot

The Voillot family has grown vines for five generations and has a big footprint, south of Beaune, with thirty two parcels in some of the finest vineyards. These sought after and pure expressions of the appellation are now crafted under the careful eye of wine maker and cellar master Etienne Chaix. Etienne is grandson of Joseph, and nephew of the great Jean-Pierre Charlot (former oenologist and Joseph Voillot’s son-in-law who presided over these cellars for some thirty years). Jean-Pierre has taken a step back but remains on hand for advice if required. These wines are designed for long ageing, yet their delicate flavours, subtle use of oak, and purity of fruit, make them also approachable in their youth. View our selection.

    Vineyard & Winemaking

The 9 hectares of vineyards are located in Volnay and Pommard and planted with Pinot Noir with an average of 40 years old vine. The estate also owns a few parcels of Chardonnay in Meursault. The Voillot cultivates the soil two to three times a year in order to aerate and restructure it but also drive the vine roots downward. Organic treatments are favoured but they do not aim to be certified organic. Wines are aged in oak barrel, 15 to 20% of which is new, for 14 to 16 months before bottling. Wines are never fined and filtration is avoided as much as possible.

    Wines Produced

They produce an average of 40 000bt each year, mostly red wines, under the regional ‘Bourgogne’ appellation, and prestigious Pommard and Volnay AOC, where most of the production is under the 1er Cru classification.
