We are excited to offer the opportunity to taste the latest releases from the Rhône, alongside a mouth-watering selection of wines from the previous five vintages. Both the north and south of the Rhône have had a remarkable run of excellent vintages from 2015 onwards, with 2020 showing promising early signs that this sequence of success will continue. The harvest followed a serene growing season and saw excellent quality grapes picked, with the wines showing great early promise from the barrel. The proof will be in the tasting!
Our multi-vintage Rhône tasting evening will offer guests the opportunity to taste 2020 barrel samples alongside a corresponding wine from one of the previous (bottled) five vintages – an excellent opportunity to get an idea for how the 2020s might evolve and to check in on some fantastic recent releases that are available for purchase. The format of the tasting is an informal walkaround, with the Fine Wine team having freshly returned from visiting our producers in the Rhône and on hand to discuss the wines and answer questions.
One of France’s most under-valued regions, the Rhône offers bountiful opportunity to stock the cellar with magnificent (and age-worthy) reds and wonderfully complex and fresh whites across the quality spectrum, while offering great value for money. Even at the top tier in Chateauneuf du Pape, Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie, wines are accessibly priced when compared to Grand Cru and Cru Classé in Burgundy and Bordeaux respectively.
We expect to be showing the beautiful wines of: Domaine Cayron, Gigondas; Domaine Rostaing, Côte Rôtie; Domaine Clusel Roch, Côte Rôtie; Domaine Garon, Côte Rôtie; Domaine François Villard, Saint Joseph; Domaine Niero, Côte Rôtie; Domaine du Colombier, Hermitage; Domaine Pochon, Crozes-Hermitage; Chateau des Roques, Vacqueyras; Domaine du Grand Tinel, Chateauneuf-du-Pape; Domaine Les Hautes Cances, Cairanne, amongst others.
Tickets are very limited and are offered on a first come, first served basis, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
A simple dinner menu will be available to those attending the tasting. If you wish to book a table for supper afterwards, you can do so by clicking here, alternatively, you can call the bar directly on 020 7831 8365 to make your reservation. We are pleased to offer a 25% discount on food for ticket holders on this evening.
Our full 2020 Rhône en primeur offer and further details on the vintage will follow – please ensure you are signed up to the fine wine mailing list to receive this, along with offers on all other vintages we’ll be showing.
