The Lloyd family fell in love with this site located in Central Otago and decided to plant vineyards on it. They named the estate Te Kano, meaning seed in Maori. Helped with viticulturist Mike Winter and winemaker Dave Sutton, they produce a small selection from vineyards and barrels, which are often produced in extremely limited quantities.
A supple and complex Pinot Noir with aromas of mocha and dark cherry. Generous ripe plum and cherry flavours, combined with savoury notes of dried herb, create a wine that is both expressive and elegant.

Debut wine that’s a blend of Jerome and Eliza. Fine and floral with some black cherry here. Herbs and tar here. A little closed. The palate is vibrant and elegant with black cherry, plum and savoury spiciness. Has some silkiness with a seamless nature. Needs a little more time to fully integrate. It’s plush, a deliberate choice for the first release, but subsequent vintages will be more Abel and have more tannin.- 94 pts Dr. Jamie Goode, Wine Anorak
