Hosted by our WSET qualified tutors, the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines gives the wine enthusiast all the knowledge they need to start their journey into this fascinating world, exploring different grapes, styles and food and wine pairing. These fun and informative classes can take place in the comfortable surroundings of our Greenwich shop or at a place of your choice. Internationally recognised, the Level 1 Award in Wines is an ideal starting point for wine enthusiasts wanting to get to grips with the basics, or those embarking on a career in wine or hospitality. In a short space of time, you’ll find yourself feeling much more confident tasting wine, navigating a wine list, buying bottles and pairing wine with food.
For individuals new to wine study, this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately, and make food and wine pairings. The Level 1 Award requires five hours of tutored learning. A 45 minutes, multiple-choice question exam will take place at the end of the course, date to be confirmed in first class.

Mock Exam: 30 minutes
Exam: 45 min plus 15 min admin
