Welcome to the third in our new series of audio interviews, where we hand the producer the microphone and allow them to tell us all about their winery and individual wines.
This time, it’s Henri-Claude Amadieu of Domaine Les Hautes Cances in Cairanne, in the southern Rhône valley (far left in photo). The wines of Cairanne represent some of the best values available in France, having only recently acquired their Cru status, putting them alongside their more famous neighbours of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas. The estate was only recently taken on by the Amadieu family, who were chosen by the previous owners who had no successors. Today, in the words of Will Lyons of the Sunday Times, the Domaine les Hautes Cances wines are a real find.
There are five excellent reds in the range, which all display the delicious spicy notes that the regions wines are famous for; as well as an elegant white and beautifully fresh rosé. Cairanne gets around 285 days of sunshine each year and these are all wines which are great to enjoy outdoors in the warm weather that weve all been enjoying.
