This 40 hectares estate and award winning winery has been producing wine for over 300 years.
Medium bodied, soft and round. Ripe, plummy black fruits with a faint waft of gun smoke.
This estate is located around the highest peak of the Paardeberg where there is one the Cape’s original Signal Cannons, which was once used to communicate to farmers that a ship had arrived in Cape Town’s Table Bay Harbour. Today, Julian Johnsen, Anthony Ward, and Richard Gower own this historic 40 hectare farm which has a three century old wine making tradition and ideal terroir. South-facing slopes, decomposed granite soil and long afternoon south westerly winds give their wines wonderful vibrancy and character.
Multi award winning winemaker Matthew Copeland constantly searches to improve his wines. He likes to experiment with skin ferments and extended macerations whilst practising minimal intervention to retain freshness and natural characteristics. The wines are firm favourite in the Voor-Paardeberg region of Paarl. View our selection.
