Product description
Only wine that meets our exacting standards are bottled with the Davy family name on. James Davy and the wine team will either ask producers to blend wine to a specific style, or taste many samples until they are completely satisfied that the wine chosen is indicative of its appellation, and is the very best it can be for the price point.
Davy’s Red Burgundy is made exclusively for Davy’s by Laurent Borgeot, a brilliant winemaker known for making elegant Pinot Noir with a silky texture. Sourced from two small parcels planted with 40 to 55 years old vines in the village of Remigny, next to Chassagne Montrachet, and aged in 20% new oak. Lovely aromas of raspberry and blue berry with hints of earthiness. Medium-bodied, round and smooth on the palate with some structure and well-balanced with a firm acidity. This is an excellent value red Burgundy.

A blend of old and young vines on the slopes of the Côte de Beane. From Borgeot of Remigny - a clever place to look for good-value burgundy. Transparent garnet. Quite some grip on this lightly earthy, serious wine with raspberry fruit. No sign of excess heat. Refreshing and charming and decidedly reminiscent of a Santenay with that grainy texture. Well bought! Good Value. Drink 2021 to 2025. 16.5/20pts
