Château du Tertre is a thousand year old estate that was classified as a fifth growth in 1855. Since the 1990s, the quality has been on the rise. The team has now access to small capacity tanks which allow them to vinify the best plots separately.

Les Hauts de Tertre is the second wine of the estate. Aromas of blackcurrant and cassis alongside notes of spice and leather. Overall elegant with silky tannins. A great example of Margaux.

About the producer: Château du Tertre

Château du Tertre is a thousand year old estate that was classified as a fifth growth in 1855. In 1997, Eric Albada Jelgersma, a Dutch businessman, bought the estate and invested in both vineyards and cellar. The quality of the wines has improved in recent years and some great vintages have been produced starting with 2000. In 2008, small capacity concrete truncated cone tanks were installed in order to enable the best plots to be vinified separately. View our selection.

    Vineyard & Winemaking

The 52 hectares of vines (of which 18 ha are biodynamic) are planted with 43 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 33 % Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot with an average 50 years old vine. The wines are fermented in various tanks: concrete, wood and stainless steel and aged in 100% French oak of which 45% is new.

    Wine Produced

Château du Tertre (grand vin) Les Hauts du Tertre (secon vin)
