Madeira

Madeira is amongst the longest-lived wines in the world – with even modest examples capable of ageing decades, and many top wines still drinking beautifully at 100+. Traditionally aged via the ‘canteiro’ method, the fortified wines are transferred into wooden casks and aged under a rooftop attic well exposed to the fierce heat of the sun. Nowadays, this process can also be replicated by the ‘estufa’ system, running hot water pipes through the vat, heating the wine and imparting the same desired flavours.
With over 150 years in the wine business, our longstanding relationships with the world’s finest winemakers has given us a nose for fine wine as well as a great range of Madeira wines, both vintage and non-vintage.
