Spain may have been slow to embrace new winemaking technology but things have improved immeasurably over the last few decades and, with more land under vine than any other country there is an abundance of quality wine to choose from whatever the budget. Known mainly for its world-famous Rioja and Ribera del Duero in Castilla Y León, Spain is also acclaimed for its refreshing whites from Galicia, excellent reds from Catalonia and, of course, the old English favourite, Sherry.
